Clef  "Outdoor Tenugui" is a new concept born from our year-round outdoor activities, whether at the beach, in the mountains, or by the river.
Overturning traditional tenugui conventions, the four buttonholes and elastic loop allow for a variety of styling options.
By using the elastic loop to secure the tenugui in place, just like tying your hair, you can prevent the knot from coming undone or blowing away in the wind.
The tightness can also be adjusted.
○ A basic style worn around the neck.
○ Wrap around the head or forehead to protect against sweat, or as an inner layer under a hat or helmet.
○ Wrap like a mask to reduce sunburn and ensure mask etiquette for others.
Truly a staple for any outdoor activity.

◆ Four buttonholes.
You can change the position of the elastic loop or use it as a spare buttonhole in case the original one tears.
For example, you can change the attachment position of the elastic loop depending on whether you are right-handed or left-handed.

◆ Overlock stitched on both ends.
Frayed threads will not get tangled in the zippers of outerwear or gear on backpacks.
Another benefit is that they do not produce small pieces of lint.

◆ Two-tone coloring depending on how you wrap it.
The "chu-sen" dyeing method allows the design to be worn both ways without worrying about whether it is worn front or back.

"Chū-sen" is a traditional Japanese tenugui dyeing method.
Rather than printing on the fabric, artisans dye the threads themselves.
This method produces delicate shading, bleeding, and beautiful gradations that cannot be achieved with prints.

Chū-sen dyeing preserves the natural softness of tenugui and dries quickly without impairing breathability.

It is the perfect dyeing method for Japan's hot and humid climate.

*As this dyeing method does not fix the color, fading is inevitable.
(Similar to denim or indigo dyeing.)
We recommend hand washing the fabric by itself for the first 2-3 washes.

Because Chū-sen dyeing does not fix the color, the color will develop into your own unique style with use.
Since the Meiji period, tenugui have been beloved as stylish hand towels, allowing you to enjoy the changes that occur over time.

This culture and the artisans involved are now gradually disappearing.
